1pt Chocolate Old Fashioned Recipe

1pt Chocolate Old-Fashioned
An Old Fashioned built for moments when you want to linger a bit longer. Dark, slow, and subtly decadent, with the kind of chocolate depth that belongs to quiet corners and worn leather, and one more story you probably shouldn’t tell. Not quite dessert. It’s a nightcap with intent.
STEP 1 - Easy All-Natural Infusion
Infuse Your Spirit:
Combine a 1pt Chocolate Infusion Blend Packet with 375ml of Whiskey in any lidded container. Let it infuse for 5-6 hours, then strain, and reserve the infused spirit for your cocktails. (No need to refrigerate - infused spirits can be stored indefinitely at room temperature)
1pt Chocolate Infusion Blend Ingredients:
Vanilla Rooibos, Cacao Shells, Marigold Petals
Mocktail* Version:
Substitute water or a zero-proof spirit for the alcohol in this infusion and follow the same steps. If infusing water, omit the addition of additional water from the recipe below. (Non-alcoholic infusions should be refrigerated and used within 30 days)
STEP 2 - Mix Your Drink
| Ingredient | Cocktail (1) | Batch (6+) |
|---|---|---|
| 1pt Chocolate-infused Whiskey* | 2.0 oz | 375ml |
| Simple Syrup | 0.5 oz | 3 oz |
| Water | 0.5 oz | 3 oz |
| Orange Bitters | 2 dashes | 12 dashes total |
Mixing Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. For batching, combine all ingredients in a pitcher with ice (adding 2 additional ounces of water to mimic the dilution you usually get from stirring) and serve as normal.
Garnish:
Garnish with an orange twist to pickup on the hint of orange bitters.
STEP 3 - Enjoy!
For an Added Twist:
No added twist for this one. The power of this drink is its simplicity - let the infusion do all the work.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Cocktails shine especially brightly alongside appetizers that bring out their full range of flavors. For this cocktail, try these ideas based on the vibe you’re going for:
- Simple & Satisfying: Parmesan and black pepper crisps with a touch of orange honey, bringing salty crunch and citrus lift against the cocktail’s dark chocolate warmth.
- Classic & Comforting: Mini sausage rolls with whole-grain mustard, pairing buttery pastry and savory spice with the drink’s whiskey depth without turning it toward dessert.
- Elevated & Elegant: Chicken liver mousse on toast points with cornichons, matching the cocktail’s velvet richness while a sharp bite keeps the cacao, vanilla, and bitters clean.
